OEH&S Campus

The Campus Program is responsible for providing services to all non-clinical areas of UCSF. In order to ease the burden on users, this Program has adopted unique concept called a Department Safety Advisor (DSA).

Department Safety Advisor

To assist the Campus in achieving its goals in health and safety, OEH&S has appointed a staff member to each Department / Unit as its Department Safety Advisor (DSA). The DSA, as the single point of contact, is responsible for all health and safety needs of that Department / Unit . Click here to see list of DSAs; otherwise, Find Your DSA. The DSA:

• Assists in completing Internal Use Authorization Permits
• Provides Safety Training
• Performs Internal Safety Audits
• Assists in developing the Departmental Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
• Arranges for Occupational or Environmental Monitoring
• Performs Ergonomic reviews
• Assist with Removal/Disposal of Hazardous Materials for Clearance of a Laboratory
• Controlled Substance use and Registration
• Fume hoods evaluations
• Deluge shower and eyewash station monitoring
• Provides other needed services and advice in health and safety
• Assists with the Chemical Carcinogen Program
