THE OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

OEH&S Patient

The Medical Center has implemented a hazard control program for airborne contaminants to minimize exposures to employees, patients and the environment. A combination of work practices, protective equipment and engineering controls to minimize exposure where there may be a risk of over exposure. Risk assessment is based on the amount of material used, frequency of use and the potential for contact that could result in exposures. The specific chemicals and hazardous materials that are included in the hazard control program are:

  • Anesthetic gases.
  • Bioaerosols
  • Ethylene oxide
  • Formaldehyde
  • Glutaraldehyde
  • Asbestos
  • Ribavirin
  • Radioactive materials

Any questions or concerns can be directed to the OEH&S office at 476-1300
